Location: Atlanta, GA
Details of the Speech: In today’s fast-moving world, we are always under pressure to act now, rather than to reflect upon our assumptions and biases that help us to filter information. We all have this natural filtration system, but when it goes unchecked, it can cause us to misinterpret data or ignore our blind spots. The Un(Dis)Cover workshop begins with iSee: A Game of Facts and Perceptions which leverages pictures, ideas and information to demonstrate the Ladder of Inference(LOI). ). LOI is a tool which describes the thinking process that we go through, usually without realizing it, to get from data to a decision or action. Participants will then be led through an exercise leveraging a powerful foresight tool called Causal Layered Analysis (CLA). The CLA model promotes the deeper understanding of issues by examining their root causes.
Uncovering causes and reframing perspectives through CLA and iSee is an effective integration tool that can be used again and again in a variety of organizational contexts. Institute Alumni can begin to harness the benefits of the CLA tool immediately by applying it to individual issues or their projects as a whole. The CLA model also provides a view towards common purpose and goals, improving collaboration on teams.
